As an apprentice working for Retrofit Electric, you’ll work as part of a project crew to install commercial and industrial projects in Southern MN and the Twin Cities Metro area and be part of our thriving, Woman-Owned Small Business. We offer paid training, 401K, PTO, Per Diem for Travel outside your assigned territory. This position will work in the Twin Cities, metro area and will report to the Field Supervisor.

The Apprentice Electrician will be working on electrical installations under the guidance of a Journeyman Electrician. General electrical work and troubleshooting is required. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Must keep safety a priority and follow all company and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Must have general knowledge of electrical installations and systems.
  • Must be able to lay out and install lighting systems, circuitry, conduit and control systems.
  • Must have the ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with other employees of the company, supervisors and customers.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely and correctly use electrical tools, hand tools, aerial lifts, scaffolds and ladders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Willingness to attend classes as scheduled by Retrofit Electric to gain knowledge and progress towards journeyman license.

 Qualification Requirements:

  • State Unlicensed Registered Electrician
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s insurance policy.

 Education and/or Experience:

Two years electrical experience or completed coursework at a trade school preferred.

    • Electrical installation experience is a plus.

 Language Skills:

  • Must be able to read, write and speak well in the English Language and have the ability to communicate clearly with management, general contractors, construction managers, customers and departmental employees. Must be able to receive instructions.  Must be able to perform basic math functions at a high school level.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to hear and speak clearly in order to communicate effectively on the telephone and face-to-face with co-workers and superiors.

 Physical Demands:

  • Must be in good general health and have a full range of bodily motion as much walking, lifting, reaching, carrying, bending, handling, and grasping are daily requirements of the

job.  Lifting, carrying, and/or moving materials, supplies and/or equipment weighting more than 50 lbs will be a regular requirement of the job.

  • Must have good vision, be able to distinguish color and possess the ability to adjust focus, as the physical demands of the job require much work with colored wiring and both close and arm length installations.

We provide our apprentices tools and paid education & training, along with a great benefits package including medical, 401K, PTO & Per Diem for Travel outside your assigned territory. This position will report to the Field Supervisor.

Wage is $25-44.75/hour, depending on experience, abilities & location, as part of a registered apprenticeship program.
