RETROFIT ENVIRONMENTAL HAS A "CUSTOMER-FIRST" APPROACH. Reliable Service. Disposal made easy.
Our goal is to make it easy for you to properly dispose of regulated waste and maintain proper records. With so many regulations, we work to ensure that your business's waste is responsibly managed, from cradle-to-grave. This waste can be regular industry waste or an old stockpile; we handle it all. While our scheduled route trucks cover the Midwest, our network of partners allows us to complete services on a national level for some clients.

We prioritize recycling whenever possible and are proud to offer recycling services for electronics, fluorescent & LED lamps, batteries, latex paint, aerosols, solar panels, and more. Unfortunately, not everything can be recycled, but we have great disposal options for hazardous wastes such as paints, chemicals, mercury devices, and more. If you can’t throw it in your normal trash, we can likely help!

We provide a range of service options to meet your needs. Whether you have a list for review or need an Environmental Specialist to come on site, we’re happy to help find a solution that works for you.
DO YOU PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION FOR COMPLIANCE AND REPORTING?
You will receive copies of all shipping documents at the time of shipment, but you can also request copies from the team any time. We maintain copies of all shipping documents in compliance with EPA and DOT requirements.
DOES RETROFIT ENVIRONMENTAL PROVIDE ANNUAL VOLUME REPORTS?
Yes! We want to help you complete your annual usage reports. Contact our team to request a report for your business(s) waste that was sent to Retrofit Environmental.
WHY SHOULD I RECYCLE USED ELECTRONICS?
We all need clean water, and electronics contain small amounts of toxic chemicals that when not properly managed, can migrate into the water and soil. Your local regulator may require electronics to be recycled or managed as hazardous waste, but even if they don’t, it is a nice thing to do.
WILL YOU PICK-UP WASTE ITEMS AT MY HOME?
No. Retrofit Environmental does not provide residential pick-up services. However, our Little Canada office accepts Walk-Ins. Find our hours of operation and pricing details, here.

WHAT QUALIFIES AS REGULATED OR HAZARDOUS WASTE
Regulated waste can generally be thought of as any waste material that can’t be disposed of in a typical office trash can. This could be anything from a lithium battery to radioactive waste. Hazardous waste is a special type of regulated waste with specific physical or chemical characteristics that require special treatment. Common hazardous wastes include oil based paints and stains, drain opener, and some cleaners.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY BUSINESS GENERATES HAZARDOUS WASTE?
The MPCA publishes a great 10-step process for determining if you have hazardous waste and learning how to properly manage it. We highly recommend these publications to people who are unsure about their wastes. Most of the things the MPCA discusses in these documents are applicable nation-wide.
WHAT IS A LAB PACK, AND DO YOU OFFER LAB PACK SERVICES?
A lab pack is a process that allows a transporter to pack different chemicals with similar chemical characteristics together in a larger outer container. This is very typical for small point of use containers of chemicals like cans of paint, spray bottles, or laboratory reagents. The process allows us to pack these chemicals together into a drum with an absorbent media and ship off a single container of waste instead of a bunch of small containers.
DO YOU HANDLE EMERGENCY SPILL RESPONSE OR CLEANUP?
We do not have an in-house emergency response team but do assist customers with non-emergency spill clean-up and industrial cleaning activities.
ARE YOU LICENSED AND CERTIFIED TO HANDLE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS?
Yes, we have all applicable licenses to haul hazardous waste in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
DO YOU PROVIDE MANIFESTS AND TRACKING FOR ALL WASTE PICKUPS?
Yes, we provide all the necessary shipping documents and labels required to make a legal shipment of hazardous waste.
HOW DO YOU ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH EPA, DOT AND STATE REGULATIONS?
Our in-house technical team has decades of experience working in the hazardous waste industry. Every hazardous waste shipment is again reviewed by the approval teams at our disposal partner facilities.
CAN YOU HELP US PREPARE FOR AUDITS OR INSPECTIONS?
We can provide usage reports by request that outline every waste shipment accepted from a facility, where it went, and how it was processed. In addition to the usage reports we can provide copies of all shipping documents and waste stream profiles.
